Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has accused the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, of instigating a fake recall process against her. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the senator alleged that Bello masterminded the recall attempt, using fake constituents to undermine her position.

Akpoti-Uduaghan pointed to previous attacks and political interference during the 2023 general elections, where she was targeted by Bello’s camp. She described the recall effort as a continuation of a political vendetta aimed at destabilizing the mandate given to her by the people of Kogi Central.

In her statement, Akpoti-Uduaghan called out Bello for failing to address allegations of corruption related to the fraudulent diversion of N89.2 billion, instead choosing to focus on efforts to undermine her elected position. The senator further challenged Bello to explain where he had manufactured the names of the fake constituents supporting her recall.

She remarked, “The people of Kogi Central have made it clear: they reject injustice, they reject exploitation of women, and they reject fake recalls. Despite attempts to suppress their will, they came out in force to resist these political intimidations.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed gratitude to her constituents for their support, emphasizing that their resistance had only strengthened her resolve to continue serving them. She vowed to remain committed to her duties and provide her best representation for Kogi Central.
