Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has issued a response to Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, urging him to cease using diversionary tactics to conceal his administration’s shortcomings in delivering to the people of the state. Ganduje’s statement, relayed by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, characterized Governor Yusuf’s recent actions as an unfortunate attempt to deflect attention from the lack of tangible progress in Kano State despite increased statutory allocations since the inauguration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Ganduje addressed the decision of the Kano State Government to bring criminal charges against him, alleging bribery totaling $413,000 and N1.38 billion. He dismissed these accusations as baseless and highlighted a recent Federal High Court ruling in Kano, which deemed the alleged offense a federal matter falling under the jurisdiction of the Attorney General of the Federation and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Rather than engaging in legal battles, Ganduje urged the Kano administration to focus on improving the welfare of the people and consider adopting his developmental blueprint for the state. He welcomed the decision to set up committees to investigate allegations of misappropriation of public property, political violence, and missing persons during his tenure but suggested broadening the probe’s scope to encompass activities dating back to 1999.

Asserting his administration’s transparency and commitment to governance, Ganduje emphasized the importance of acting in the public’s best interest and conducting probes impartially, free from malice or vindictiveness. He reiterated his belief that governance should prioritize the welfare of citizens and urged current leaders to uphold principles of accountability and transparency without external influence.
