The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 14, offering taxpayers additional time to comply with statutory obligations. The extension follows an earlier March 31 deadline for the 2026 year of assessment.

Extension Aims to Improve Compliance and Accuracy

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) announced the extension in a statement issued by its Head of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude.

According to the statement, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, approved the new deadline to give taxpayers more time to complete and submit accurate returns.

Subair emphasised that tax compliance should be treated as a routine civic responsibility, urging individuals to prioritise timely filing.

eTax Platform Remains Mandatory

The agency reiterated that all tax returns must be submitted electronically through its official eTax system, noting that manual filing has been fully discontinued.

“Individuals are therefore required to file their returns exclusively through the LIRS eTax portal,” Subair stated.

He described the platform as secure, user-friendly, and available круглосуточно, enabling taxpayers to file conveniently at any time.

Taxpayers Advised to Ensure Accurate Information

LIRS also urged individuals to ensure that their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly entered during submission to avoid errors or delays in processing.

Taxpayers who require assistance were advised to visit any LIRS office or contact the agency through its official communication channels for support.
