In the face of significant debt burdens inherited from the previous administration, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, inaugurated the reconstructed 10.89KM Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road in Eleme Local Government Area. Governor Fubara highlighted the financial challenges his administration faces due to outstanding payments owed to contractors, amounting to billions of naira.
Expressing determination to address these challenges transparently, Governor Fubara emphasized his commitment to delivering development projects despite financial constraints. The completion of the road project, awarded to China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) at the cost of N6.7 billion, serves as a testament to the government’s dedication to fulfilling its promises to the people.
Acknowledging the road’s significance, Governor Fubara emphasized its role as a bypass for motorists to avoid the deplorable sections of the East-West Road, supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to improve transportation infrastructure and provide hope to Nigerians.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, who commended Governor Fubara’s commitment to service and urged continued support from the people of Rivers State. He emphasized the importance of governance focused on serving the majority rather than a select few.
Additionally, the project’s stakeholders, including Engr. Atemia Briggs and Engr. Eric Shen, highlighted the road’s specifications and expressed gratitude for the government’s support in completing the project amidst various challenges.
Despite facing financial constraints and inherited debt burdens, Governor Fubara’s administration remains committed to delivering essential infrastructure projects that improve the lives of the people of Rivers State.
