President Bola Tinubu has responded for the first time to allegations of budget padding by Senator Abdul Ningi, stating that those making such accusations do not understand the arithmetic behind the 2024 financial estimate. Tinubu emphasized his familiarity with the budget numbers he presented to the Senate and what was passed, dismissing claims of malicious embellishment.

Addressing the Senate leadership during a special Iftar event at the State House in Abuja, Tinubu expressed gratitude for the Senate’s handling of the budget and encouraged cooperation for the nation’s advancement. He assured Nigerians that despite current challenges, including security and economic difficulties, the country would overcome them, with improved revenue and better management of resources.

Tinubu reiterated his belief that Nigeria would triumph over its challenges and emphasized the need to rescue the country and bring prosperity to all citizens. He highlighted the importance of supporting the armed forces and fighting for sovereignty, individual rights, and the eradication of poverty.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima echoed Tinubu’s sentiments, expressing lawmakers’ commitment to ensuring the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda. The event marked the fourth in a series of special Iftar gatherings hosted by Senator Godswill Akpabio, where the commitment to national progress was reaffirmed.
