The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) recently staged a protest at the national headquarters of the Labour Party, calling for the immediate removal of the party’s national chairman, Julius Abure.

Accusing Abure of displaying contempt towards the leadership of the labour union and attempting to organize a national convention in contravention of the party’s constitution, the NLC members gathered outside the Party’s headquarters in Abuja to voice their dissatisfaction.

During the protest, members of the NLC asserted their claim that the Labour Party rightfully belongs to the Nigeria Labour Congress and expressed their determination to reclaim ownership.

They characterized Abure as a political coup plotter who unlawfully assumed the chairmanship of the party and insisted on his prompt removal from office.

The absence of Abure from the Party’s Secretariat during the protest added fuel to the fire, prompting further speculation and questions regarding his leadership and the allegations brought against him by the NLC.

As of now, Abure has not issued any statement addressing the picketing of the Labour Party Secretariat or responding to the accusations leveled against him by the Nigeria Labour Congress.
