President Bola Tinubu has called upon the 36 state governors to transcend political differences and collaborate with the federal government in nation-building efforts. Speaking during a Ramadan fast-breaking event with governors at the State House in Abuja, President Tinubu stressed the imperative of transitioning from politics to governance, emphasizing unity and cooperation among all stakeholders.

”Since we recognize the need to build our nation together, the time for politics is over. It is now time for governance,” President Tinubu remarked. ”We are of the same family and parents; living in the same house, but sleeping in different rooms. We must cooperate and spread love among each other.”

Highlighting the significance of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims and the Lenten season for Christians, President Tinubu urged Nigerians to utilize this solemn occasion for reflection, prayers, and acts of charity towards others.

Acknowledging the challenges facing the nation, President Tinubu expressed optimism about the future, noting that the solutions being implemented by his administration are beginning to yield positive results. ”I am glad that the headwinds are almost over. The tunnel is not as dark as when we started. It is going to be brighter and brighter. We must communicate with each other, stick together, and share joy,” he asserted.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq commended the federal government for distributing 42,000 tons of grains, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts between the national and sub-national governments in addressing collective challenges.

Regarding the payment of wage awards to workers, Governor AbdulRazaq assured that the states would fulfill their obligations. ”Wet season farming is almost here, and I want to implore all governors to engage in farming activities, so that we can appreciate the challenges faced by ordinary farmers and ensure a bumper harvest at the end of the season,” he urged.

Governors who attended the fast-breaking event with President Tinubu included governors AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara); Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta); Hyacinth Alia (Benue); Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau); Ahmed Ododo (Kogi); Nasir Idris (Kebbi); Bala Mohammed (Bauchi); Babagana Zulum (Borno); and Douye Diri (Bayelsa). Others present were Dapo Abiodun (Ogun); Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa); Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi); Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe); Alex Otti (Abia); Godwin Obaseki (Edo); Uba Sani (Kaduna); Agbu Kefas (Taraba); among others.
