In a decisive move aimed at enhancing governmental efficiency, President Bola Tinubu has ordered the implementation of the Oransaye report, focusing on mergers, scrapping, and relocation of government agencies. Notable among the mergers is the consolidation of the National Agency for Control of AIDS with the Center for Disease Control, and the merger of the Federal Radio Corporation with the Voice of Nigeria.

Additionally, agencies like the National Salaries Income and Wages Commission are set to be integrated into the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission. This strategic restructuring, originating from the 2012 Oransaye report, aims to streamline operations, curtail costs, and eliminate duplications in functions.

To ensure prompt execution, a committee has been established with a 12-week timeline for restructuring and legislative adjustments. The Oransaye Report, spearheaded by former Head of Service of the Federation, Steve Oronsaye, during the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, proposed rationalizing and restructuring federal government parastatals, commissions, and agencies.

Although initially met with resistance, the report presents a compelling blueprint for governmental reform, advocating for a leaner and more efficient public service. Despite facing challenges and lack of full endorsement in previous administrations, its implementation holds promise for significant cost savings, improved service delivery, and a more coherent government structure, ultimately benefiting the Nigerian populace.
