Ganduje’s Splitting of Kano Emirate to Be Reviewed -Kwankwaso

Former governor of Kano State and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has stated that the issue of the creation of five new Emirates in Kano will be revisited by the state government. Kwankwaso emphasized that the issue of the Kano Emirates would be reexamined by the current administration, expressing the need to sit and discuss whether the changes made to the traditional institutions would be allowed, restructured, or reconsidered.

In a live interview program, Kwankwaso spoke on various political issues, including the possibility of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) merging with other political parties. He mentioned that the doors of the NNPP are open to discussions with interested parties, indicating a willingness to engage in dialogues and collaborations where necessary.

Kwankwaso’s comments come in the context of the controversial decision by the former governor and current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, to split the Kano Emirate into five, creating Gaya, Bichi, and Rano Karaye Emirates out of the Kano Emirate. Additionally, Ganduje dethroned the 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. The move has sparked protests and calls for the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the sole Emir of Kano.
