Former Nigerian Vice President and presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has called on traditional, religious, and political leaders in Nigeria to join the campaign for transparency regarding President Bola Tinubu’s credentials to be Nigeria’s President.
Atiku emphasized the importance of upholding the rules and ensuring transparency in the country’s political processes. He urged leaders to act in the best interest of the people they serve and not allow the certification of a candidate’s credentials to be a prolonged or contentious issue.
Atiku also highlighted that Nigeria’s reputation is at stake, emphasizing his commitment to democracy and the well-being of the country’s citizens. He paid tribute to the late human rights activist Gani Fawehinmi, who inspired him on his political journey.
The former vice president commended journalist David Hundeyin and stressed the importance of vigilance in safeguarding liberty. Atiku called on Nigerian leaders, including traditional and religious figures, as well as political leaders like Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, to join the campaign for transparency.
He concluded by stating that he would only drop the fight when the court rules on the matter, signalling his determination to seek clarity and transparency in the presidential candidacy process.
