As Expected, Ganduje Emerges APC National Chairman

Abdullahi Ganduje, who served as the Governor of Kano state from 2015 to 2023, has been officially confirmed as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling political party in Nigeria. This decision was reached during the 12th meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), which took place at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton in Abuja on Thursday.

During the meeting, the party’s NEC also elected Ajibola Basiru, a former Senate spokesman hailing from Osun State, as the National Secretary of the party.

After his appointment, Ganduje expressed his gratitude to the President and pledged to uphold internal democracy within the party throughout his tenure. He committed to establishing a technologically advanced membership register and emphasized his dedication to effective election management and conflict resolution.

Ganduje further assured that he would immediately commence efforts to secure victory for the party in all upcoming gubernatorial elections across the nation.

Prominent figures present at the NEC meeting included President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, members of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, and key party figures from the National Assembly. Notably, former President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo were absent from the event.

Addressing the 12th NEC gathering, the President emphasized that the APC had triumphed in the elections and emphasized the necessity of delivering the promised good governance to the Nigerian populace. The President also reiterated his belief that the 2023 elections were the best in Nigeria’s history.
