During the screening of ministerial nominees at the National Assembly on Monday, Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers state, expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for nominating him for a ministerial position. He assured the president that if confirmed, he would provide the required support and that Tinubu would not regret his nomination.

Wike highlighted his achievements as governor, stating that during his tenure, he changed the landscape of Port Harcourt by constructing 12 flyovers. He emphasized the importance of passion and commitment to the welfare of the people in achieving such feats.

Senator Barry Mpigi, representing Rivers south-east, praised Wike as their role model and stated that all three senators from Rivers state and over five million people back at home supported his nomination.

In response, Senate President Godswill Akpabio acknowledged the overwhelming support for Wike and asked him to take a bow, indicating that he would not face further questioning during the screening process.
