President Bola Tinubu has defended the removal of fuel subsidy by his administration, stating that it was done in the best interest of Nigerian society. He acknowledged the hardship that this decision, along with other efforts to revive the economy, has imposed on Nigerians. However, he assured the public that the savings from these steps will ultimately benefit all Nigerians. President Tinubu emphasized the need for patience as the government works on implementing palliative measures to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal. He also highlighted the importance of a comprehensive social security structure that will not be compromised.

The President expressed his commitment to unity, equity, stability, and prosperity in the country, and he welcomed the advice and support of the Class of 1999 Governors, of which he is a member. He recognized the significance of fixing the electricity sector for the country’s progress and promised to explore opportunities for stable power generation and supply. Regarding security, President Tinubu called for dialogue in resolving conflicts and urged Nigerians, particularly those in Plateau State, to embrace peaceful solutions.

The Chairman of the Class of 1999 Governors, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, commended President Tinubu’s leadership and assured him of their support. They discussed various national issues, including security, unemployment, and infrastructure needs. Igbinedion emphasized the group’s commitment to the development of Nigeria beyond partisan politics. The President thanked them for their support and assured the public that palliatives would be implemented to alleviate the challenges caused by recent economic measures. The group also discussed the importance of uninterrupted power supply and the removal of fuel subsidies.

President Tinubu expressed his determination to build a better Nigeria and called for patience and trust from the public as the country goes through necessary reforms. The Class of 1999 Governors pledged their continued support to the President’s vision and offered their experience and expertise to contribute to the nation’s progress.
