Why FG Reopened Seme Border for Vehicular Importations
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The reopening of the Seme Border for vehicular importations has been approved by the Federal Government led by Bola Tinubu. Ibrahim Musa, the Director of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transportation, revealed this during the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) meeting between Nigeria and Benin Republic. Musa stated that the decision was prompted by complaints from freight forwarders operating at the Seme border.

He mentioned that during his time with the former Minister of State for Transportation, the freight forwarders requested the reactivation of the border to facilitate the free movement of goods and services. In response, the former minister’s team prepared a memo on the matter, which was subsequently considered by the government.
