Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, said he will never call Bola Tinubu his president.
On Saturday, the priest and politician accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of mishandling the 2023 elections in a webinar.
After his speech on the PTB4Nigeria In Diaspora Group’s Zoom programme “Building the New Nigeria: The Role of the Diaspora,” he mentioned this during a Q&A session.
Our correspondent monitored the 7 pm Saturday night meeting. Earlier in the presentation, he called the 2023 elections unacceptable.
He laughed and said he will tell the new government what he told outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari last week.
Bakare told Buhari that he called him “My President” and “President of Nigeria” sometimes.
“Last Wednesday, I was at the Glass House where Buhari has been restricted because the main house is being renovated. I did that for you. “I want you to know that, because of the circumstances of your flying into power on the wings of integrity and incorruptibility, but you’re now passing onto someone who does not have that value,” the cleric informed the participants.
“Any public lecture anywhere, before this mess is cleared off, I will address Asiwaju as a President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria but I will never call him my president,” he remarked.
Since he didn’t vote, he couldn’t lose.
Bakare said: “I participated in the primary, and there were hundreds who participated only by stepping down, so there is no shame in what we have done. We spoke truth to power in seven minutes. “I wasn’t there when they voted, I wasn’t there when they scored (me) zero, but we won that badge of zero and badge of honour.”
