Former All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for governor in the most recent election in Enugu State, Dons Udeh, has been discovered deceased.

His disappearance was reported on Saturday.

His corpse was discovered in the 9th Mile Area of Enugu State. His vehicle was also reportedly recovered.

Ahmed Ammani, Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, verified the incident and ordered the Homicide Section of the State CID and Tactical Squads of the Command to conduct a full-scale, discreet investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding Udeh’s murder.

He said in a statement: “”The lifeless and decomposing body of the deceased, identified as a 2023 Enugu State Governorship Election Aspirant under the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), was discovered in a bush at 9th Mile Bypass in Udi Local Government Area on April 25, 2023, at approximately 1100 hours, with signs of violence, which strongly suggests he was murdered.

“Police Officers from the 9th Mile Police Division of the Command transported the corpse to the hospital, where it was pronounced deceased and placed in the mortuary for preservation and medical autopsy.

“Meanwhile, preliminary investigation reveals that the deceased has been reported missing since Saturday, April 22, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m., when he departed his Enugu City residence in a white Toyota Highlander Jeep bearing the registration number ENU 800 NX for an unknown destination.

“All attempts to determine his whereabouts were fruitless until his remains were discovered on the specified date and location, while the vehicle was later discovered abandoned and recovered today, April 26, 2023, at approximately 10 a.m., at Ngwo along Old Enugu Road, Udi Local Government Area.””
