How politicians are Purchasing Political Posts Ahead of Inauguration, Senator Ali Ndume Reveals
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Ali Ndume, senator for Borno South Senatorial District, asserts that politicians have already begun “purchasing” political posts prior to the 10th National Assembly’s inauguration.

This remark was made by the congressman from Borno during an interview with Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

“There should be an Unexplained Wealth Act so that if you exhibit wealth that is out of proportion with your income, you are investigated, the wealth is confiscated, and you are prosecuted if it is vast,” he said.

“As you can see, they are attempting to purchase the job.” This country’s top positions are becoming dominated by kleptocrats and plutocrats. There is no longer any democracy.”

Ndume also stated that he would have won the position of Senate President in 2019 if he had been wealthy.

He stated, “They have already purchased it. Did you not hear the charge that they are pooling funds? I believed that if I had more money during the last election, I would have won. “I have no money.”

A 20-year member of the National Assembly from the All Progressives Party (APC) lobbied for the “Unexplained Wealth Act” to combat corrupt politicians with unexplained riches.

Recall that the ruling APC gained the majority of legislative seats during the elections, with more than 55 of 109 Senate seats and more than 160 of 360 House of Representatives members.

After the Presidential and National Assembly elections on February 25, several APC legislative members-elect have vied for the coveted places in the red and green chambers.

The leading candidates for the leadership of the National Assembly include, among others, Orji Kalu, Jibrin Barau, Godswill Akpabio, Dave Umahi, Ahmad Lawan, Abdulaziz Yari, and Osita Izunaso.
