The Directorate Of State Services (DSS) of Nigeria has unearthed and confirmed a scheme for an interim government in Nigeria, as well as identified key plotters.

In a press release issued on Wednesday evening, the DSS’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Peter Afunanya, revealed that there were certainly intentions by key parties to install an Interim Government in the federation. Dr. Peter wrote that the service viewed the plot as “not merely an anomaly, but also a malicious attempt to disregard the constitution, weaken civil authority, and plunge the nation into an avoidable catastrophe.”

The DSS revealed a portion of the plot that was to be carried out by unidentified planners, claiming that the planners had already taken certain steps “weighed various options, including, among others, sponsoring endless violent mass protests in major cities to justify a State of Emergency declaration. Using frivolous judicial injunctions to prevent the inauguration of new executive administrations and legislative chambers at the federal and state levels is yet another tactic.”

The DSS then announced their support for President Buhari and stated that, along with their sister security services, they will work closely with him to achieve a peaceful handover on May 29. Following this display of support, a stern warning was sent to those who intended to undermine the nation’s democracy. Dr. Peter said, “As monitoring continues, the DSS will not hesitate to take decisive and required legal action against these misguided elements in order to frustrate their arrogant goals.”

The DSS concluded its statement by addressing the stakeholders in this case, specifically citing the judicial authorities, the media, and the Civil Society, and urging them “not to be utilised as instruments to undermine the peace and stability of the nation.”
