Amid Wide Spread Voters Suppression, Babajide Sanwo-Olu Re-elected as Lagos Governor

Babajide Sanwo-Olu was proclaimed the winner of the Lagos governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

A few minutes after 1 a.m. on Monday, Sanwo-Olu was declared the victor of the election.

The Labour Party (LP), which nominated Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour for governor, contested the outcome.

Sanwo-Olu received 762,134 votes to win the race, as announced at the INEC headquarters in Lagos by the election’s returning officer, Oladiji Adenike.

The Liberal Party (LP) placed second with 312,329 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) placed third with 62,445 votes.

There were a total of 1,182,620 accredited voters, and 1,155,678 legitimate ballots.

Sanwo-Olu has gained a second term as governor of Lagos with the INEC’s announcement.
