The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that runways 18R and 36L will be closed for maintenance at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.

Monday, FAAN reported this via a tweet.

According to the agency, work on the runways will take eight weeks.

It also ensured that normal airline operations would not be disrupted, as taxiway B-18L would be used for every flight.

The notification informs the public that runway 18R/36L at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos has been closed for eight weeks due to maintenance work.

The B-18L taxiway will be utilized for all flight operations.

The NOTAM, a warning giving vital information for flight operations employees, reveals that the runways have already been closed and are slated to reopen in May 2022.

The agency had blocked the 18L/36R runways of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) for 90 days in June 2022.

Despite FAAN’s claims that operations would not be impacted, airline companies reported suffering enormous losses during the period the runways were blocked.
