I have not Abandoned My Resolve to Leave Nigeria if Bola Tinubu is Elected President -PDP Chieftain, Bode George

Bode George, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), states that he has not abandoned his resolve to leave Nigeria if Bola Tinubu is elected president, he made this clear on an interview with Punch on Sunday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu the winner of the presidential election last week.

Mahmood Yakubu, INEC chairman, said Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 6,984,520 votes, followed by Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who received 6,101,533 votes.

At least five times prior to the election, George pledged to leave Nigeria if Tinubu was elected to the country’s highest office.

The PDP leader stated in his most recent interview that he has yet to determine the location of his self-imposed exile, but that his self-imposed exile remains in the works.

George stated that he intends to retire “anywhere in the world” since Tinubu’s election “may be a major issue.”

“It remains on my agenda. If I decide what to do, I wish you the best of luck. I am not seeking employment, I have everything I desire, and how much food may I eat? “I also have my children, who are now adults,” he stated.

“Because they are all mature, what am I seeking? My spouse is present. She will provide for my needs. Depending on the outcome of this [post-election litigation], I will remain in Nigeria, as I anticipate a major problem.

“As you are aware, I am a military ruler, so I can go anywhere in the world and still observe you people.

“I have even determined that after spending 50 years of my life in the public sphere, 25 years in the military and 25 years in politics, I need relaxation, regardless of what I see at the conclusion of this endeavor. I am retiring from partisan politics and will spend the remainder of my life enjoying myself.”
