How EFCC Intercepted N32 million earmarked for Vote-buying in Lagos

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, claims to have intercepted N32,400,000 (Thirty-two Million, Four Hundred Thousand Naira) in Lagos, which was reportedly intended for vote-buying in Lagos.

The seizure was made by the Lagos Zonal Command of the Commission, according to the statement, and the suspect has been detained for further questioning.
Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, quoted Commission chairman Abdulrasheed Bawa in a statement, urging all personnel of the Commission deployed for election monitoring duties to demonstrate courage and not allow unscrupulous individuals to undermine the integrity of the elections through financial inducement.

He stated that tactical teams of operators are now on the ground in all the states of the federation and the FCT, and that telephone hotlines have already been disseminated via social media for members of the public to report financial malpractices to agents of the commission.

He added: “The public is invited to report anyone attempting to purchase or sell votes using the EFCC’s financial crimes reporting application, Eagle Eye, which can be downloaded from the Google Play or Apple stores. People can also contact the Commission via our social media accounts, @officialefcc, or by email, info@efcc.gov.ng. “
