Abuja-Kaduna Train Terrorists Attack: We Have Apprehended the Masterminds -Defence Headquarters

The Defence Headquarters announced on Thursday that troops detained three terrorists on Valentine’s Day in the Damba community in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Force reported that one of the terrorists apprehended admitted to being one of the masterminds behind the Abuja-Kaduna train attack on March 28, 2022.

The Director of Defense Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami, made this message accessible to our correspondent on Thursday.

He stated that troops were dispatched to the scene and recovered two motorcycles, two mobile phones, $5,000 in cash, and a variety of other currencies.

The statement read in part, “Similarly, on February 14, 2023, troops of Operation Whirl Punch responded to intelligence regarding the presence of Boko Haram terrorists and Islamic State of West Africa Province leaders in the Damba community in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“Thereafter, troops were deployed to the scene and apprehended three terrorists. One of the terrorists apprehended was identified as one of the masterminds behind the Abuja-Kaduna terrorist attack on March 28, 2022.

Also, on February 16, 2023, troops on a combat patrol battled terrorists in Ungwan Birni in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, neutralizing seven of the terrorists and pursuing the others as they escaped.

On February 20, 2023, according to Danmadami, forces on combat patrol in Gada Oli village, Borgu Local Government Area, Niger State, discovered two AK-47 rifles, one magazine, 66 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, and seven BH/ISWAP terrorist flags.

He reported that troops in the North-West zone recovered 10 AK-47 weapons, 83 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 238 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two locally-made rifles, one locally-made pistol, seven magazines, 19 motorcycles, mobile phones, 30 rustled livestock, and various other stuff.

He added that troops neutralized 23 terrorists and arrested nine others, while rescuing 23 kidnapped citizens.
