How Thugs Attacked Peter Obi Supporters on Their Way to TBS for Campaign Rally

In Lagos state, some supporters of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi have been attacked by thugs.

Some of the party’s supporters were reportedly attacked on their way to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), the location of the party’s presidential campaign rally.

The thugs allegedly targeted the supporters in order to prevent them from joining the demonstration.

In a statement released on Saturday, Yunusa Tanko, the LP campaign council’s spokesperson, stated that nothing will prevent the Obidient movement from continuing its campaign.

The statement reads, “The Obidient movement is under attack in Lagos; they are preventing our people from attending the TBS gathering.”

“A movement whose time has come cannot be stopped by anything. Security personnel should take attention. We continue to go Obvious and Joyfully.”

TheCable has learned that some party supporters were also attacked by thugs along the Jakande axis in the Lekki and Adeniji Adele neighborhoods of Lagos Island.

Currently, medical volunteers at the TBS are assisting those injured in the attack.

Benjamin Hundeyin, a spokesperson for the Lagos police, stated that the state’s criminal investigation division will examine the incident and apprehend the perpetrators.

“The injured and other witnesses are providing pertinent information to the police that will aid in the apprehension and prosecution of the attackers,” he said.

This assault is abhorrent! Since yesterday, the command has had patrol vehicles and officers stationed at Tafawa Balewa Square, the location of today’s rally. We had already guarded the location to avert a law and order collapse.

“The unfortunate attack occurred approximately 15 kilometers from the rally site. As previously mentioned, the SCID will be responsible for investigating and punishing the attacks.”
