Tuesday, the Department of State Service (DSS) was present at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for unknown reasons.
Recall that the EFCC office at 15A Awolowo Way, Ikoyi, was invaded on Tuesday morning, with access denied to commission officials.
Peter Ifunaya, spokesman for the DSS, stated on Tuesday that the EFCC cannot contest the DSS’s ownership of the building.
“Awolowo Road was the location of the NSO’s headquarters. SSS/DSS originated there. It is general knowledge. It is a fact of history. Check it out’, explained Ifunaya.
According to Afunanya, the DSS did not obstruct the EFCC office, but rather occupied the DSS section of the building.
According to him, there is no competition between the two government agencies because both are working for the benefit of the nation.
“There is no competition between the Service and the EFCC in any regard. Please refrain from imagining any. They are excellent partners labouring for the nation’s benefit. “Ignore any rumours of a fight,” he said.
“There is no controversy surrounding No. 15A Awolowo Road, as reported by the media. Did the EFCC inform you that it is contesting the building’s ownership? I would be astonished if it were to contest ownership.
“No. It’s not the case. He concluded, “The Service only occupies its own facility when carrying out its official and statutory duties.”
