The Nigeria Police Force (NPF)<\/strong> has suspended the nationwide enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy<\/strong> following an interim court order restraining the action.<\/p>\n

The decision was confirmed in a press statement issued on January 1, 2026<\/strong>, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin<\/strong>, and released to the media in Abuja.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the Police had earlier announced plans to resume enforcement of the tinted glass permit policy from January 2, 2026<\/strong>, after a public notice issued on December 15, 2025<\/strong>, as part of measures to enhance internal security and public safety.<\/p>\n

Court Order Halts Enforcement<\/h3>\n

However, the Force disclosed that it was subsequently served with an interim court order in Suit No. HOR\/FHR\/M\/31\/2025<\/strong>, dated December 17, 2025<\/strong>, restraining the Police from proceeding with the enforcement pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit or the lifting of the order.<\/p>\n

In compliance with the directive, the Police said it has placed the enforcement of the policy on hold nationwide.<\/p>\n

Police Challenge Order, Case Adjourned<\/h3>\n

The NPF said it has entered appearance in the case and taken steps to challenge the interim order in line with constitutional provisions.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, the Force has raised preliminary objections and formally applied for the vacation of the order while maintaining respect for judicial authority.<\/p>\n

The court has adjourned the matter to January 20, 2026<\/strong>, for further proceedings.<\/p>\n

IGP Reaffirms Commitment to Rule of Law<\/h3>\n

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun<\/strong>, reaffirmed the Police Force\u2019s commitment to upholding the rule of law while carrying out its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property.<\/p>\n

The Police assured the public that further updates would be provided after the court reaches a determination, stressing that the decision to suspend enforcement was taken strictly in compliance with the subsisting court order and in the interest of public order and national security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
