Abuja, Nigeria \u2013 August 29, 2025<\/strong> \u2013 Key leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)<\/strong> have publicly endorsed the zoning of the 2027 presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria<\/strong>, admitting that the party\u2019s 2023 decision to field former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar<\/strong> was a strategic miscalculation.<\/p>\n Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed<\/strong>, expressed full satisfaction with the party\u2019s zoning decision, revealing that he personally stepped down his ambitions to support the consensus.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m very satisfied with the resolution. It\u2019s an all-inclusive decision to sustain unity and fairness in our party,\u201d Mohammed said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Speaking on the outcome of the 2023 election, Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro<\/strong>, described the party\u2019s decision to allow a northern candidate as a critical error that led to defeat at the polls.<\/p>\n \u201cMajority of us agree \u2014 fielding a northern candidate in 2023 was a mistake.
