However, in a surprising turn, Bala later reversed his resignation and declared himself the <strong data-start=\"838\" data-end=\"867\">interim National Chairman<\/strong>, accusing party insiders of handing the ADC\u2019s structure to \u201cexternal forces.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"947\" data-end=\"1201\">In a statement sent to <em data-start=\"970\" data-end=\"979\">THISDAY<\/em>, Bala insisted that the ADC constitution allows him to assume leadership based on procedural guidelines and urged the <strong data-start=\"1098\" data-end=\"1150\">Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)<\/strong> to recognise him as the party\u2019s legitimate leader.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1203\" data-end=\"1608\">Reacting to the unfolding drama, <strong data-start=\"1236\" data-end=\"1263\">Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi<\/strong>, the ADC\u2019s National Publicity Secretary, dismissed Bala\u2019s claim as a \u201cdesperate plot\u201d backed by the APC. He confirmed that the party\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1399\" data-end=\"1437\">National Executive Committee (NEC)<\/strong>, in a session monitored by INEC, had formally dissolved the former National Working Committee and approved the handover of leadership to the <strong data-start=\"1579\" data-end=\"1607\">David Mark-led coalition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1610\" data-end=\"1863\">\u201cWe saw this coming.
