The session focused on six critical education Bills aimed at establishing institutions tailored to Nigeria\u2019s evolving development needs.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1089\" data-end=\"1163\"><strong data-start=\"1093\" data-end=\"1163\">Akpabio: Specialised Universities Will Drive Innovation and Equity<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1165\" data-end=\"1375\">Addressing lawmakers, academic stakeholders, and civil society groups, Akpabio said the proposed institutions are not mere legislative proposals but \u201cbold steps\u201d toward building a 21st-century education system.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1377\" data-end=\"1549\">\n<p data-start=\"1379\" data-end=\"1549\">\u201cThese Bills are not just legislative formalities; they are bold steps towards laying the foundation for a prosperous, inclusive, and innovation-driven Nigeria,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p data-start=\"1551\" data-end=\"1679\">He emphasized the urgency of expanding educational infrastructure to match Nigeria\u2019s rising population and economic aspirations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1681\" data-end=\"1739\">The six tertiary institutions under consideration include:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1741\" data-end=\"2143\">\n<li data-start=\"1741\" data-end=\"1795\">\n<p data-start=\"1743\" data-end=\"1795\"><strong data-start=\"1743\" data-end=\"1793\">Federal University of Education (Special), Oyo<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1796\" data-end=\"1865\">\n<p data-start=\"1798\" data-end=\"1865\"><strong data-start=\"1798\" data-end=\"1863\">Federal University of Health Sciences, Funtua (Katsina State)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1866\" data-end=\"1936\">\n<p data-start=\"1868\" data-end=\"1936\"><strong data-start=\"1868\" data-end=\"1934\">Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi (Akwa Ibom State)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1937\" data-end=\"1981\">\n<p data-start=\"1939\" data-end=\"1981\"><strong data-start=\"1939\" data-end=\"1979\">Federal University of Geomatics, Oyo<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1982\" data-end=\"2065\">\n<p data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"2065\"><strong data-start=\"1984\" data-end=\"2063\">Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, Yaba (Lagos State)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2066\" data-end=\"2143\">\n<p data-start=\"2068\" data-end=\"2143\"><strong data-start=\"2068\" data-end=\"2143\">Amendment of the Federal University of Technology, Omoku (Rivers State)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2145\" data-end=\"2326\">Akpabio noted the Bills reflect a commitment to bridging regional disparities and preparing Nigerian youth for global competitiveness in technology, health, and vocational training.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"2328\" data-end=\"2331\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"2333\" data-end=\"2405\"><strong data-start=\"2337\" data-end=\"2405\">Wike: UniAbuja to Lose 7,000 Hectares of Illegally Acquired Land<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2407\" data-end=\"2644\">Meanwhile, <strong data-start=\"2418\" data-end=\"2446\">FCT Minister Nyesom Wike<\/strong> announced the <strong data-start=\"2461\" data-end=\"2494\">reclamation of 7,000 hectares<\/strong> of land from the University of Abuja, stating that the institution was only legally entitled to <strong data-start=\"2591\" data-end=\"2627\">4,000 out of the 11,000 hectares<\/strong> it had occupied.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2646\" data-end=\"2845\">Wike made the declaration during the commissioning of newly completed <strong data-start=\"2716\" data-end=\"2749\">Access Roads in Giri District<\/strong>, Abuja, officiated by President Bola Tinubu (represented by House Speaker Hon. Tajudeen Abbas).<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2847\" data-end=\"2988\">\n<p data-start=\"2849\" data-end=\"2988\">\u201cNo document, nothing.
