The delay followed the service of two fresh motions to Alison-Madueke\u2019s legal team, which her counsel, Mr. Godwin Inyinbor, confirmed had been responded to.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"987\" data-end=\"1162\">Counsel for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Mofesomo Oyetibo, SAN, who appeared for the first time in the matter, also confirmed receipt of responses.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1164\" data-end=\"1284\">Following procedural clarifications, Justice Umar set <strong data-start=\"1218\" data-end=\"1237\">October 6, 2025<\/strong>, as the new date for a <strong data-start=\"1261\" data-end=\"1283\">definitive hearing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1351\"><strong data-start=\"1290\" data-end=\"1351\">Alison-Madueke Challenges EFCC\u2019s Sale of Forfeited Assets<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1353\" data-end=\"1572\">The suit, marked <strong data-start=\"1370\" data-end=\"1392\">FHC\/ABJ\/CS\/21\/2023<\/strong>, was filed by Alison-Madueke to contest the public notice by the EFCC for the sale of her properties, which she claims were seized <strong data-start=\"1524\" data-end=\"1571\">without proper jurisdiction or fair hearing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1574\" data-end=\"1599\">Among her core arguments:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1600\" data-end=\"1967\">\n<li data-start=\"1600\" data-end=\"1678\">\n<p data-start=\"1602\" data-end=\"1678\">She was <strong data-start=\"1610\" data-end=\"1626\">never served<\/strong> with a charge sheet, summons, or proof of evidence.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1679\" data-end=\"1802\">\n<p data-start=\"1681\" data-end=\"1802\">The forfeiture orders violated her <strong data-start=\"1716\" data-end=\"1756\">constitutional right to fair hearing<\/strong> under Section 36(1) of the 1999 Constitution.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1803\" data-end=\"1875\">\n<p data-start=\"1805\" data-end=\"1875\">The court was allegedly <strong data-start=\"1829\" data-end=\"1839\">misled<\/strong> through suppression of vital facts.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1876\" data-end=\"1967\">\n<p data-start=\"1878\" data-end=\"1967\">She is requesting that the <strong data-start=\"1905\" data-end=\"1966\">forfeiture orders and EFCC\u2019s public sale notice be voided<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1969\" data-end=\"2077\">Her legal team is also asking for an extension of time to formally apply to set aside the forfeiture orders.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2079\" data-end=\"2124\"><strong data-start=\"2083\" data-end=\"2124\">EFCC Defends Legal Procedure and Sale<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2126\" data-end=\"2165\">The EFCC, in its defense, insists that:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2166\" data-end=\"2420\">\n<li data-start=\"2166\" data-end=\"2239\">\n<p data-start=\"2168\" data-end=\"2239\"><strong data-start=\"2168\" data-end=\"2189\">Due legal process<\/strong> was followed in securing final forfeiture orders.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2240\" data-end=\"2335\">\n<p data-start=\"2242\" data-end=\"2335\">The properties were legally disposed of <strong data-start=\"2282\" data-end=\"2334\">based on valid court rulings dating back to 2017<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2336\" data-end=\"2420\">\n<p data-start=\"2338\" data-end=\"2420\">The orders had not been overturned on appeal, making them binding and enforceable.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"2422\" data-end=\"2585\">The anti-corruption agency is urging the court to dismiss the suit, maintaining that the assets were lawfully acquired and disposed of following judicial approval.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned to October 6 for definite hearing in the suit filed by Nigeria\u2019s former Petroleum Minister, Deziani Alison-Madueke, challenging the forfeiture of her assets to the federal government.
