Uyo, Akwa Ibom \u2013 May 21, 2025<\/strong> | Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris<\/strong>, says President Bola Tinubu\u2019s bold economic reforms are beginning to yield measurable outcomes<\/strong>, following initial hardship triggered by subsidy removal and exchange rate unification.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the 2025 Nigeria Public Relations Week<\/strong> in Uyo, Idris described Tinubu\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda<\/strong> as the catalyst of an \u201ceconomic renaissance,\u201d anchored on strategic investments, fiscal reforms, and inclusive development initiatives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Renewed Hope Agenda is steadfastly paving the way for Nigeria\u2019s economic rebirth. These are not abstract ideas\u2014we are seeing real outcomes,\u201d Idris declared.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Key Achievements Under Tinubu’s Administration<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Idris rolled out highlights of the administration’s two-year scorecard:<\/p>\n

    \u20a62.5 trillion investment<\/strong> in road infrastructure in 2025\u2014the highest in Nigeria\u2019s history<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Over 300,000 students<\/strong> benefitting from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    \u20a6200 billion support fund<\/strong> for nano and micro businesses<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    $450 million investment<\/strong> in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Creation of new ministries for Livestock and Regional Development<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Launch of CreditCorp<\/strong>, giving Nigerians access to affordable credit for housing, healthcare, and daily essentials<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The Minister described the country as a \u201cvast construction site\u201d<\/strong>, citing the Lagos-Calabar and Badagry-Sokoto superhighways<\/strong>, Kano-Kaduna Railway<\/strong>, and Alau Dam rehabilitation in Borno<\/strong> as examples of equitable infrastructure distribution.<\/p>\n

    Improving Macroeconomic Indicators<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Idris cited new macroeconomic data showing real progress:<\/p>\n

      Diaspora remittances<\/strong> reached $21.9 billion<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n

      Nollywood’s contribution to GDP<\/strong> hit over \u20a6730 billion<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      \u201cThese are not just statistics\u2014they are real outcomes reflecting renewed investor confidence and the resilience of Nigerians,\u201d the minister noted.<\/p>\n

      \n

      Public Relations as a Tool for National Messaging<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Idris urged public relations professionals to become \u201ccentral agents of national renewal\u201d<\/strong>, leveraging values-driven storytelling to project Nigeria\u2019s progress globally.<\/p>\n

      He announced the National Strategic Communication Framework (NSCF)<\/strong> as a new initiative by his ministry to deliver coherent and effective messaging<\/strong> about national development.<\/p>\n

      Governor Eno: Tinubu Inherited the Economic Crisis<\/strong><\/h3>\n

      Meanwhile, Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno<\/strong> voiced support for President Tinubu, stating that the current economic challenges predated his administration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      Speaking to journalists in Abuja after a meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima<\/strong>, Eno praised Tinubu\u2019s performance during his first two years, describing them as \u201cwonderful\u201d despite difficult circumstances.<\/p>\n

      \u201cPresident Tinubu didn\u2019t create the problems. He inherited them. I believe he\u2019s doing his best and deserves our support to steer Nigeria through this transition,\u201d said Eno.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

      Akwa Ibom: From Grassroots to Super Infrastructure<\/strong><\/h3>\n
