These men joined the APC of their own volition for the greater good of Nigeria,\u201d Bamidele declared.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1312\" data-end=\"1315\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1317\" data-end=\"1362\">Three PDP Senators Officially Join APC<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1364\" data-end=\"1461\">The defection was made official during plenary as the <strong data-start=\"1418\" data-end=\"1457\">three PDP senators from Kebbi State<\/strong> \u2014<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1462\" data-end=\"1664\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1462\" data-end=\"1498\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1498\"><strong data-start=\"1464\" data-end=\"1496\">Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1499\" data-end=\"1546\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1501\" data-end=\"1546\"><strong data-start=\"1501\" data-end=\"1544\">Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi (Kebbi North)<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1547\" data-end=\"1664\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1549\" data-end=\"1664\"><strong data-start=\"1549\" data-end=\"1580\">Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South)<\/strong><br data-start=\"1580\" data-end=\"1583\" \/>\u2014 submitted their letters announcing their decision to leave the PDP for the APC.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"1820\"><strong data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"1706\">Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau<\/strong>, who presided over the plenary, read the letters individually, formally welcoming the trio into the ruling party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1822\" data-end=\"2026\">Their defection was witnessed by <strong data-start=\"1855\" data-end=\"1902\">APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"1904\" data-end=\"1940\">Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1946\" data-end=\"2000\">APC National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu<\/strong>, among other dignitaries.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2028\" data-end=\"2031\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2033\" data-end=\"2071\">\u201cNo One Was Forced\u201d \u2013 Bamidele<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2073\" data-end=\"2224\">Bamidele, who represents <strong data-start=\"2098\" data-end=\"2115\">Ekiti Central<\/strong>, dismissed claims of coercion, contrasting the APC\u2019s approach with that of the PDP during its time in power.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2226\" data-end=\"2365\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2228\" data-end=\"2365\">\u201cWe all witnessed how PDP, when in government, used federal might to coerce defections. What you are seeing today is voluntary,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2367\" data-end=\"2476\">He highlighted the distinguished political careers of the defectors, noting their experience and credibility:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2478\" data-end=\"2733\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2478\" data-end=\"2599\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2480\" data-end=\"2599\"><strong data-start=\"2480\" data-end=\"2490\">Aliero<\/strong>: Former Governor of Kebbi (1999\u20132007), ex-Federal Minister, and currently one of the most senior senators.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2600\" data-end=\"2671\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2602\" data-end=\"2671\"><strong data-start=\"2602\" data-end=\"2622\">Yahaya Abdullahi<\/strong>: Former Senate Leader during the 9th Assembly.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2672\" data-end=\"2733\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2674\" data-end=\"2733\"><strong data-start=\"2674\" data-end=\"2685\">Maidoki<\/strong>: Private sector veteran and first-time senator.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2735\" data-end=\"2871\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2737\" data-end=\"2871\">\u201cThese are men of conviction. They have not defected for personal gain but for public service and national interest,\u201d Bamidele stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2873\" data-end=\"2876\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2878\" data-end=\"2921\">\u201cThis Is Not About One-Party State\u201d<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2923\" data-end=\"3100\">Addressing fears about Nigeria drifting toward a one-party system, Bamidele reassured the public that the APC remains committed to democratic pluralism and inclusive governance.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"3102\" data-end=\"3259\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3104\" data-end=\"3259\">\u201cOur doors remain open. We will not shut anyone out\u2014regardless of party, religion, or tribe. We welcome all who share in our mission to transform Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3261\" data-end=\"3407\">Bamidele described the influx of opposition lawmakers into APC as a reflection of widespread support for Tinubu\u2019s administration and its policies.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"3409\" data-end=\"3576\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3411\" data-end=\"3576\">\u201cEven <strong data-start=\"3417\" data-end=\"3425\">APGA<\/strong>, which remains an opposition party, nominated a Minister of State in this government. That tells you everything: this is a national unity government.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"3583\" data-end=\"3622\">&#8216;Not the Time for Grandstanding\u2019<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3624\" data-end=\"3752\">Bamidele argued that the current political climate demands unity and collaboration rather than opposition for opposition\u2019s sake.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"3754\" data-end=\"3901\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3756\" data-end=\"3901\">\u201cWe are not in normal times. This is not the time for grandstanding. This is the time for patriots to come together to save and rebuild Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3903\" data-end=\"4007\">He also pushed back on critics labelling the 10th National Assembly a \u201crubber-stamp parliament,\u201d saying:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"4009\" data-end=\"4101\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4011\" data-end=\"4101\">\u201cWe are focused on collective national interest. That\u2019s what the people elected us to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"4103\" data-end=\"4106\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"4108\" data-end=\"4151\">Minority Lawmakers Will Be Respected<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4153\" data-end=\"4260\">While welcoming the new members, Bamidele assured remaining opposition senators of continued collaboration.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"4262\" data-end=\"4418\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4264\" data-end=\"4418\">\u201cWe will continue to work with our colleagues on the minority side. Once in this chamber, party labels fade.
