It is designed to deliver uninterrupted power to military training facilities, academic buildings, and staff quarters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"1906\">REA Managing Director, <strong data-start=\"1689\" data-end=\"1703\">Abba Aliyu<\/strong>, described the project as a \u201cturning point\u201d for energy access in learning institutions, noting that the agency is focused on delivering \u201csocial impact, sustainable development, and national innovation.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1908\" data-end=\"1993\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1910\" data-end=\"1993\">\u201cEEP Phase II is not just an energy project; it is a national mission,\u201d Aliyu said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1995\" data-end=\"1998\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2000\" data-end=\"2052\">Rural Electrification Fund Phase III Unveiled<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2054\" data-end=\"2294\">Also on Tuesday, the <strong data-start=\"2075\" data-end=\"2097\">Federal Government<\/strong>, through the REA, launched <strong data-start=\"2125\" data-end=\"2178\">Phase III of the Rural Electrification Fund (REF)<\/strong>\u2014a critical initiative aimed at expanding <strong data-start=\"2220\" data-end=\"2251\">off-grid electricity access<\/strong> to Nigeria\u2019s most underserved communities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2296\" data-end=\"2396\">At a grant agreement signing and finance workshop in Abuja, REA announced that the REF Call 3 would:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2398\" data-end=\"2694\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2398\" data-end=\"2451\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2400\" data-end=\"2451\">Attract over <strong data-start=\"2413\" data-end=\"2451\">\u20a65.6 billion in private investment<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2452\" data-end=\"2485\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2454\" data-end=\"2485\">Deliver <strong data-start=\"2462\" data-end=\"2485\">9MW of clean energy<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2486\" data-end=\"2539\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2488\" data-end=\"2539\">Provide <strong data-start=\"2496\" data-end=\"2525\">\u20a66.4 billion in subsidies<\/strong> to developers<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2540\" data-end=\"2613\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2542\" data-end=\"2613\">Benefit <strong data-start=\"2550\" data-end=\"2613\">31,500+ households, schools, health centres, and businesses<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2614\" data-end=\"2642\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2616\" data-end=\"2642\">Create over <strong data-start=\"2628\" data-end=\"2642\">6,000 jobs<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2643\" data-end=\"2694\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2645\" data-end=\"2694\">Cut <strong data-start=\"2649\" data-end=\"2694\">carbon emissions by 39,000+ tons annually<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2696\" data-end=\"2820\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2698\" data-end=\"2820\">\u201cREF Call 3 is designed to scale impact, not just numbers,\u201d said Aliyu. \u201cWe are delivering energy to empower communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2822\" data-end=\"2825\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2827\" data-end=\"2873\">REA\u2019s Growing Impact &amp; Future Ambitions<\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2875\" data-end=\"2929\">Since inception, the REF has made measurable progress:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"2931\" data-end=\"3123\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2931\" data-end=\"2951\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2933\" data-end=\"2951\"><strong data-start=\"2933\" data-end=\"2951\">124 mini-grids<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2952\" data-end=\"2984\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2954\" data-end=\"2984\"><strong data-start=\"2954\" data-end=\"2984\">25,000+ solar home systems<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"2985\" data-end=\"3018\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2987\" data-end=\"3018\"><strong data-start=\"2987\" data-end=\"3018\">183 communities electrified<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3019\" data-end=\"3053\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3021\" data-end=\"3053\"><strong data-start=\"3021\" data-end=\"3053\">16.6MW of installed capacity<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3054\" data-end=\"3080\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3056\" data-end=\"3080\"><strong data-start=\"3056\" data-end=\"3080\">26,000+ jobs created<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3081\" data-end=\"3123\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3083\" data-end=\"3123\"><strong data-start=\"3083\" data-end=\"3123\">91,720 tons of CO\u2082 emissions avoided<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3125\" data-end=\"3350\"><strong data-start=\"3125\" data-end=\"3154\">Executive Director of REF<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"3156\" data-end=\"3170\">Doris Uboh<\/strong>, highlighted the program\u2019s evolution, from <strong data-start=\"3214\" data-end=\"3228\">REF Call 1<\/strong> deploying 1MW and reaching 24,000 users, to <strong data-start=\"3273\" data-end=\"3287\">REF Call 2<\/strong>, which supported 51 mini-grids and 3.9MW of energy generation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3352\" data-end=\"3453\">Looking ahead, REA plans to roll out the <strong data-start=\"3393\" data-end=\"3415\">e-HEART initiative<\/strong>, a landmark energy project aiming to:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"3455\" data-end=\"3644\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3455\" data-end=\"3484\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3457\" data-end=\"3484\">Deploy <strong data-start=\"3464\" data-end=\"3484\">3,700 mini-grids<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3485\" data-end=\"3550\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3487\" data-end=\"3550\">Electrify rural healthcare, schools, farms, and transit systems<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3551\" data-end=\"3590\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3553\" data-end=\"3590\">Deliver <strong data-start=\"3561\" data-end=\"3590\">370MW of renewable energy<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"3591\" data-end=\"3644\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3593\" data-end=\"3644\">Engage <strong data-start=\"3600\" data-end=\"3613\">37 states<\/strong>, with <strong data-start=\"3620\" data-end=\"3644\">15 already committed<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote data-start=\"3646\" data-end=\"3798\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3648\" data-end=\"3798\">\u201ce-HEART is poised to be Nigeria\u2019s largest decentralised energy project,\u201d Uboh stated. \u201cWe are pairing capital with community, vision with execution.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3800\" data-end=\"3935\">She also urged developers to meet timelines and quality benchmarks, warning that REA would strictly enforce grant agreement conditions.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"3937\" data-end=\"3940\" \/>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3942\" data-end=\"4266\"><strong data-start=\"3942\" data-end=\"3957\">Conclusion:<\/strong><br data-start=\"3957\" data-end=\"3960\" \/>With massive infrastructure investment needs and renewed decentralisation through the new <strong data-start=\"4050\" data-end=\"4069\">Electricity Act<\/strong>, Nigeria is pivoting toward long-term energy security.
