The rigid pavement being used is expected to last up to a century\u2014far exceeding the lifespan of traditional asphalt roads,\u201d Goronyo said, emphasizing the project\u2019s alignment with <strong data-start=\"1182\" data-end=\"1243\">President Bola Tinubu\u2019s infrastructure development agenda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1620\">According to Goronyo, approximately six kilometers of the road have already been completed using high-strength <strong data-start=\"1357\" data-end=\"1380\">reinforced concrete<\/strong>, reflecting the government&#8217;s commitment to long-lasting, high-quality infrastructure. Once completed, the road is expected to <strong data-start=\"1507\" data-end=\"1559\">cut travel time, enhance safety, curb insecurity<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"1565\" data-end=\"1595\">boost trade and employment<\/strong> across Northern Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1622\" data-end=\"1935\">Project Manager <strong data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1655\">Robert Turner<\/strong> assured that the contractor is fully committed to delivering a world-class road. \u201cThere are no shortcuts. We are giving our very best every single day,\u201d Turner stated, noting the team&#8217;s daily work hours from <strong data-start=\"1864\" data-end=\"1890\">6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.<\/strong>, limited only by regional security concerns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1937\" data-end=\"2247\"><strong data-start=\"1937\" data-end=\"2012\">Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Works, Olufunsho Adebiyi<\/strong>, also underscored the strategic shift from flexible to rigid pavement. He explained that <strong data-start=\"2102\" data-end=\"2182\">Nigeria\u2019s soil composition, water table conditions, and axle load challenges<\/strong> have made conventional asphalt unreliable in high-traffic areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2249\" data-end=\"2438\">\u201cThis new method, reinforced with <strong data-start=\"2283\" data-end=\"2318\">Y20 steel bars at 200mm centers<\/strong>, offers durability beyond most bridge decks.
