{"id":7723,"date":"2025-05-05T07:29:07","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T07:29:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shakamomodu.com\/?p=7723"},"modified":"2025-05-05T07:29:07","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T07:29:07","slug":"fg-reaffirms-3b-agge-deep-seaport-project-to-boost-niger-delta-economy-and-create-jobs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shakamomodu.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/05\/fg-reaffirms-3b-agge-deep-seaport-project-to-boost-niger-delta-economy-and-create-jobs\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Reaffirms $3B Agge Deep Seaport Project to Boost Niger Delta Economy and Create Jobs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"\" data-start=\"400\" data-end=\"761\"><em data-start=\"400\" data-end=\"435\">Yenagoa, Bayelsa State \u2013 May 2025<\/em><br data-start=\"435\" data-end=\"438\" \/>The <strong data-start=\"442\" data-end=\"475\">Federal Government of Nigeria<\/strong> has reaffirmed its full commitment to the timely delivery of the <strong data-start=\"541\" data-end=\"573\">$3 billion Agge Deep Seaport<\/strong> in Bayelsa State\u2014an ambitious infrastructure project expected to transform the <strong data-start=\"653\" data-end=\"689\">Niger Delta&#8217;s economic landscape<\/strong>, stimulate job creation, and attract both local and foreign investment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"763\" data-end=\"1002\">Speaking over the weekend at a marine safety sensitisation event in Yenagoa, <strong data-start=\"840\" data-end=\"879\">Minister of Marine and Blue Economy<\/strong>, Adegboyega Oyetola, highlighted the Agge Seaport as a cornerstone of the <strong data-start=\"954\" data-end=\"1001\">Tinubu administration\u2019s Blue Economy agenda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1004\" data-end=\"1208\">\u201cThis project aligns with our broader vision to revitalise Nigeria\u2019s maritime potential and economic development,\u201d Oyetola stated. \u201cWe are working closely with key stakeholders to ensure swift execution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1210\" data-end=\"1255\">Once operational, the Agge Deep Seaport will:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1256\" data-end=\"1487\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1256\" data-end=\"1330\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1258\" data-end=\"1330\">Serve as a major <strong data-start=\"1275\" data-end=\"1309\">international maritime gateway<\/strong> in the South-South<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1331\" data-end=\"1366\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1366\">Ease pressure on existing ports<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1367\" data-end=\"1438\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1369\" data-end=\"1438\">Drive investment in logistics, fisheries, shipbuilding, and tourism<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1439\" data-end=\"1487\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1441\" data-end=\"1487\">Create thousands of direct and indirect jobs<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1489\" data-end=\"1781\">Oyetola also praised <strong data-start=\"1510\" data-end=\"1533\">Governor Douye Diri<\/strong> for his administration\u2019s support and shared vision. Represented by Deputy Governor <strong data-start=\"1617\" data-end=\"1649\">Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo<\/strong>, Diri emphasized the port\u2019s potential to unlock new trade and development opportunities for Bayelsa and the wider Nigerian economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1783\" data-end=\"1911\">\u201cWe urge the federal government to turn its words into action. The Agge Seaport is a national economic asset,\u201d Ewhrudjakpo said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1913\" data-end=\"2120\">In a parallel effort to improve safety across Nigeria\u2019s inland waterways, Oyetola also launched the distribution of <strong data-start=\"2029\" data-end=\"2051\">3,500 life jackets<\/strong> in Bayelsa State as part of a nationwide <strong data-start=\"2093\" data-end=\"2119\">marine safety campaign<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2122\" data-end=\"2255\">\u201cThis initiative is a life-saving mission,\u201d Oyetola said. \u201cIt\u2019s our response to rising waterway accidents.
