Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere<\/strong>, has raised concerns over what it described as a deliberate attempt to undermine President Bola Tinubu\u2019s administration<\/strong> by weaponising ethnic identity and inciting national disunity.<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by National Organising Secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu<\/strong>, the group responded to recent claims by Dr. Sandra Duru<\/strong>, who alleged that suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan<\/strong> privately admitted to a plot aimed at discrediting Tinubu\u2019s government by labelling it a \u201cYoruba administration\u201d and rallying opposition to block his re-election.<\/p>\n

Afenifere strongly condemned the alleged conspiracy, calling it an \u201cact of tribal opportunism and sedition.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu\u2019s government is not a Yoruba government. It is a Nigerian government,\u201d the statement read. \u201cTo weaponise ethnicity as a political tool is not only dishonest but dangerously divisive.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Group Defends Democratic Process<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The group asserted that Tinubu\u2019s presidency emerged from a democratic consensus<\/strong>, not tribal entitlement, and urged all citizens to uphold the integrity of Nigeria\u2019s democratic institutions.<\/p>\n

Drawing a parallel, Afenifere noted that President Muhammadu Buhari<\/strong>, a Fulani, did not face organised ethnic opposition during his re-election bids, and cautioned against applying double standards to Tinubu\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

The group commended Dr. Duru for what it called her \u201cuncommon courage\u201d in exposing the alleged plan, urging Nigerians to reject tribal politics and focus on nation-building.<\/p>\n

Support for Senate President Akpabio<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Afenifere also decried what it described as an orchestrated \u201ccampaign of calumny\u201d<\/strong> against Senate President Godswill Akpabio<\/strong>, who it said is being unfairly attacked for his collaboration with the Tinubu administration.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolitics has its place,\u201d the group said, \u201cbut it must never trespass the boundaries of human decency.\u201d<\/p>\n

Condemns Internationalisation of Domestic Issues<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The statement went further to criticise efforts to export domestic political narratives to the global stage, calling such moves self-serving and reckless<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cNigeria is not a personal or tribal empire. Our nation will not bow to tribal blackmail, bend to invented narratives, or break under the weight of conspiracy,\u201d Afenifere declared.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
