The Supreme Court has invalidated Emmanuel Bwacha’s candidacy as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor in Taraba.<\/p>\n
David Sabo Kente, one of the APC candidates, filed a lawsuit against Bwacha’s candidacy.<\/p>\n
A five-member panel led by Kudirat Kekere-Ekun issued the ruling on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
On September 20, 2022, Justice Adamu Jauro announced his decision affirming the Federal High Court’s verdict.<\/p>\n
The FHC in Jalingo, the state capital, determined that the APC did not hold a legal primary election for governor.<\/p>\n
The supreme court also reversed the Court of Appeal, Yola Division’s November 24 reinstatement of Bwacha.<\/p>\n
In his response, Kente stated that the “landmark judgment” had given the people of Taraba hope.<\/p>\n
The litigant hoped that others would accept the Supreme Court’s decision in good faith and bolster the APC.<\/p>\n
