Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, has offered comforting words to women without children, urging them not to see themselves as barren but as “fruitful, potential mothers.” Speaking during a Zoom meeting with Edo State women in the diaspora, Mrs. Obaseki reassured over 200 attendees that every woman has a unique purpose in life, and motherhood will happen in God’s time.<\/p>\n
The Zoom session, which also featured Ifeyinwa Ighodalo, wife of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming Edo State governorship election, was held in response to a viral video where Senator Adams Oshiomhole made remarks about Mrs. Obaseki being childless.<\/p>\n
Addressing the issue, Mrs. Obaseki emphasized that a woman’s value goes beyond childbearing. She encouraged women who have experienced miscarriages, painful losses, or who have yet to conceive, reminding them that they are not barren and will become mothers in due time.<\/p>\n
“My word of comfort to you is that you are not barren. You and I are potential, prospective proud mothers of lovely children. The children will come in God\u2019s time,” Mrs. Obaseki said.<\/p>\n
She also shared her own painful experiences of loss, explaining how she has found fulfillment by focusing on her life’s purpose beyond biological motherhood. “Being fruitful is not limited to childbearing. It is about impacting lives and creating positive change in society,” she added.<\/p>\n
Mrs. Obaseki encouraged women to appreciate the blessings they have, including supportive spouses and families, while continuing to pursue their divine purposes.<\/p>\n
In a broader message, the Edo First Lady highlighted the significant role of women in governance and society. She stressed that women\u2019s contributions, particularly in leadership, help create a more balanced and compassionate approach to governance.<\/p>\n
