Onanuga, in a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), expressed his readiness to face Obi in court, stating, \u201cI am still waiting for the letter from Peter Obi\u2019s lawyer threatening a N5 billion suit and demanding an apology to Peter Obi over the planned \u2018revolution\u2019. Let me just tell Obi and his lawyer: I am not afraid of any legal action. We shall meet in court.\u201d<\/p>\n
The response comes after Obi’s legal team initiated a lawsuit demanding a retraction and N5 billion in damages, accusing Onanuga of defamation. Obi’s legal representatives, led by Chief Alex Ejesieme, SAN, have labeled Onanuga\u2019s statements as \u201cfalse and malicious,\u201d asserting that they have significantly damaged Obi\u2019s reputation.<\/p>\n
Onanuga\u2019s controversial statement, which was widely disseminated across social media and major Nigerian news outlets, alleged that \u201cPeter Obi\u2019s supporters are the people planning mayhem in Nigeria\u201d and held Obi responsible for potential unrest.<\/p>\n
