{"id":4440,"date":"2024-03-20T18:36:32","date_gmt":"2024-03-20T18:36:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shakamomodu.com\/?p=4440"},"modified":"2024-03-20T18:36:32","modified_gmt":"2024-03-20T18:36:32","slug":"nlc-protests-for-removal-of-labour-party-chairman","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shakamomodu.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/20\/nlc-protests-for-removal-of-labour-party-chairman\/","title":{"rendered":"NLC Protests for Removal of Labour Party Chairman"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) recently staged a protest at the national headquarters of the Labour Party, calling for the immediate removal of the party&#8217;s national chairman, Julius Abure.<\/p>\n<p>Accusing Abure of displaying contempt towards the leadership of the labour union and attempting to organize a national convention in contravention of the party&#8217;s constitution, the NLC members gathered outside the Party&#8217;s headquarters in Abuja to voice their dissatisfaction.<\/p>\n<p>During the protest, members of the NLC asserted their claim that the Labour Party rightfully belongs to the Nigeria Labour Congress and expressed their determination to reclaim ownership.<\/p>\n<p>They characterized Abure as a political coup plotter who unlawfully assumed the chairmanship of the party and insisted on his prompt removal from office.<\/p>\n<p>The absence of Abure from the Party&#8217;s Secretariat during the protest added fuel to the fire, prompting further speculation and questions regarding his leadership and the allegations brought against him by the NLC.<\/p>\n<p>As of now, Abure has not issued any statement addressing the picketing of the Labour Party Secretariat or responding to the accusations leveled against him by the Nigeria Labour Congress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) recently staged a protest at the national headquarters of the Labour Party, calling for the immediate removal of the party&#8217;s national chairman, Julius Abure.
