The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended and detained former power minister Sale Mamman in connection with an alleged N22 billion fraud.<\/p>\n
Mamman, who served as a minister under President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2021, was apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday and is being held at the headquarters of the anti-corruption agency in Abuja, according to sources familiar with the situation who spoke with TheCable.<\/p>\n
Investigations into alleged corruption in the execution of certain power projects led to the arrest.<\/p>\n
Mamman is accused of conspiring with ministry employees in command of the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects to divert and divide N22 billion among themselves.<\/p>\n
The investigations uncovered properties in Nigeria and abroad allegedly associated with the perpetrators, as well as millions of naira and dollars.<\/p>\n
