The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has proclaimed Wednesday a state holiday in preparation for the upcoming visit of President-elect Bola Tinubu.<\/p>\n
In a state broadcast on Tuesday, Governor Wike announced that Tinubu is scheduled to tour the state on Wednesday and Thursday for a two-day visit to inaugurate various projects.<\/p>\n
He included the Rumuokwuta-Rumuola flyover and the newly constructed Magistrate Court Complex in Obio\/Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas, respectively, on the roster of projects.<\/p>\n
“It is a privilege for the government and people of Rivers State to host the President-elect during this historic visit,” the governor said. Wike stated, “Therefore, I urge all Rivers citizens to turn out en masse to receive our President-Elect, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and to display the traditional Rivers hospitality as he commissions these legacy projects to the glory of God and the advancement of our development.”<\/p>\n
The governor urged residents of the state to turn out in large numbers to give the President-elect a cordial welcome, and he ordered businesses along the Rumuokwuta-Rumuola road to close between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesday, when the flyover project will be inaugurated.<\/p>\n
“In light of the foregoing, I hereby decree May 3, 2023 a public holiday so that the people of Rivers State can enthusiastically welcome our newly-elected president.<\/p>\n
“Additionally, all shops and commercial establishments along the roadways from Rumuola to Rumuokwuta in the Obio\/Akpor Local Government Area of the State shall be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
