Twelve senior attorneys of Nigeria (SANs) have been recruited by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to defend Bola Tinubu’s victory before the presidential election petition tribunal.<\/p>\n
The team is chaired by Lateef Fagbemi and includes the party’s national legal counsel, Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq.<\/p>\n
Tuesday marked the debut of the party’s legal team roster.<\/p>\n
Additional members are Sam Ologunorisa, Rotimi Oguneso, Olabisi Soyebo, Gboyega Oyewole, Muritala Abdulrasheed, Aliyu Omeiza Saiki, Tajudeen Oladoja, Pius Akubo, Oluseye Opasanya, Suraju Saida, and Kazeem Adeniyi.<\/p>\n
The statement continues, “We are certain that the legal team has the necessary competence and experience to guarantee a favorable outcome for the APC in the presidential election petition issues.”<\/p>\n
“We urge party members to support the team’s efforts to protect the people’s will and mandate.<\/p>\n
Throughout the legal process, we also urge all parties to conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism and respect for the rule of law.<\/p>\n
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) proclaimed Tinubu the winner of the presidential election held on February 25 on March 1.<\/p>\n
Yet, the country’s major opposition parties rejected the results due to claimed irregularities and violations of the electoral statute.<\/p>\n
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) have challenged Tinubu’s victory before the presidential election tribunal.<\/p>\n
