FG Advances Digital Dashboards to Track National Priorities, Says Akume

Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government says it is advancing several digital governance initiatives, including real-time dashboards for monitoring national priorities and performance indicators, as part of efforts to strengthen coordination and improve policy outcomes.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, made the disclosure on Tuesday in Abuja during the sectoral retreat for heads of agencies under the Office of the SGF, themed “Strengthening Coordination for Results: Aligning Mandates with Presidential and Service Priorities for Effective Policy Implementation.”

Government Adopts Technology for Transparency and Efficiency

Akume described technology as a powerful tool for promoting transparency, coordination, and efficiency across government operations, stressing that digital innovation must become Nigeria’s indispensable ally in governance.

“These tools will empower us to make better-informed decisions, track progress accurately, and communicate results effectively to the Nigerian people,” he said.

He revealed that the government is also developing e-government platforms to enhance service delivery and implementing data integration frameworks to enable evidence-based policy planning.

Renewed Hope Agenda Anchored on Accountability

The SGF noted that the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda provides a clear blueprint for national development, focusing on economic revitalisation, social inclusion, infrastructure renewal, and governance reform.

He identified lack of inter-agency collaboration, poor performance monitoring, and weak coordination as key reasons for policy failure in the past, emphasizing that success requires clarity of roles, seamless coordination, and accountability among ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

“Optimal use of public resources demands clarity, evidence-based decision-making, and a strong culture of performance,” Akume stated.

He added that government efficiency should not only be viewed as cost-cutting or process acceleration but as a comprehensive drive to deliver measurable impact on citizens’ lives.

Presidency Emphasises Link to National Priorities

Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to the President, explained that the retreat was designed to ensure clear alignment of mandates with presidential priorities, allowing agencies to work cohesively toward shared national goals.
