Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has publicly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid for 2027, crediting his economic reforms and significant strides in governance since taking office on May 29, 2023. Soludo made his position clear during a press briefing after a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu at the State House.

Despite belonging to the opposition Alliance Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Soludo expressed unwavering support for Tinubu’s leadership, emphasizing their longstanding friendship and the progress the country has made under the current administration. “I don’t have any apologies about it,” Soludo said. “President Tinubu is my friend, and I’ve known him for 22 years now. I support him because of the bold steps he’s taken, particularly in economic reforms and structural adjustments.”

Governor Soludo highlighted the importance of staying the course with Tinubu’s policies, noting the positive impact these reforms could have on Nigeria’s long-term prosperity. He also mentioned his state’s efforts to address insecurity, including the passing of the Homeland Security Law in January 2025 and initiatives focused on youth empowerment, job creation, and comprehensive security measures.

“Through a unique skills program, we’ve empowered over 5,000 youth, and by the end of this year, we plan to assist 8,700 more,” Soludo said. “This approach, combining both kinetic and non-kinetic methods, is part of our commitment to tackling insecurity and creating economic opportunities for young people.”

In the same vein, Senator Aliyu Wadada, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, declared his support for Tinubu’s second-term candidacy. Though still officially a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Wadada revealed that he considers himself part of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Wadada, speaking after a closed-door meeting with President Tinubu, said that the 2027 presidential election would have no serious opposition capable of challenging Tinubu’s leadership. He criticized opposition parties, particularly the PDP and the ADC coalition, suggesting that none of their leaders could match Tinubu’s capabilities. “The space for the presidency in 2027 is already occupied by President Tinubu,” he asserted. “No one from the opposition has the courage to match his vision for the country.”

Wadada also praised Tinubu’s leadership for its transformative impact on Nigeria, citing major infrastructure projects like the Sokoto-Badagry and Abuja-Kano roads, as well as improvements in the Federal Capital Territory.

He further clarified that his support for Tinubu is not based on party loyalty or personal relationships but on the president’s proven record of progress and national development. “President Tinubu’s agenda has brought tangible changes, and that’s why I support his leadership,” Wadada emphasized.

Additionally, Wadada expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for honoring him during his turbaning as the Maga Jindengi of Lafia in August 2025.
