The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has instructed the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, to launch an investigation into an alleged obstruction of aviation safety protocols by popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, better known as KWAM 1, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on August 5, 2025.

This investigation follows a formal complaint filed by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), which reported the incident and accused KWAM 1 of engaging in unruly conduct that disrupted the safe operation of an aircraft, violating the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations, 2023.

According to a statement issued by the Force Spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the investigation aims to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident. “The Nigeria Police Force has received an official petition from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) regarding an alleged incident involving Mr Wasiu Ayinde Marshal,” the statement read.

“The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has directed the Commissioner of Police, Airport Command, to immediately begin a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the facts and ensure justice is served,” the statement continued.

The Nigeria Police Force has reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and security in Nigeria’s aviation sector, emphasizing collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with aviation laws and regulations.

In its statement, the Force assured the public that the investigation would be handled with the utmost seriousness, reinforcing its dedication to upholding safety and professionalism in the aviation industry.
