Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has called on northern political stakeholders to support President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition in 2027. He made this appeal during the 2025 Dialogue Session of the Northern Caucus of the National Forum of Former Legislators, held in Abuja.
Gbajabiamila emphasized that Tinubu’s leadership transcends regional boundaries, describing him as a national figure who has delivered tangible progress across all zones, including Northern Nigeria. He cited major projects like road construction, railway expansion, and agricultural revitalization efforts as clear indicators of Tinubu’s commitment to balanced development.
“From infrastructure to inclusive policy reforms, the North has not been left behind. President Tinubu is building a future based on equity and unity,” Gbajabiamila stated. He urged the forum to consolidate support for the president’s agenda and ensure continuity in governance.
Following discussions, the Northern Caucus formally endorsed the Southern presidency in 2027 and backed Tinubu for re-election. The resolution, co-signed by Coordinator Hon. Rufai Chanchangi and Secretary Hon. Atiwurcha, declared support for power rotation and completion of the South’s presidential tenure.
“As stakeholders in Nigeria’s unity and peace, we believe the South should complete its turn. The North stands to gain more through continuity,” the communiqué stated.
Hon. Nnanna Igbokwe, National Chairman of the Forum of Former Legislators, praised the endorsement, calling it a patriotic move that puts national interest above political differences.
The forum also acknowledged current federal efforts in governance but urged the administration to intensify action on security issues in states like Zamfara, Benue, Katsina, Plateau, and Niger.
The Dialogue Session is part of a broader national consultation series aimed at promoting inclusive governance and a stable democratic transition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
