Indications Suggest Ganduje Might Become APC National Chairman

Abuja, Nigeria – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has dismissed as false recent claims suggesting he plans to defect to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Edwin Olofu, Ganduje reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the APC and described the defection rumour as “baseless and illogical.”

Ganduje Fires Back at Lamido Over Defection Claims

The clarification comes in response to comments attributed to former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, who recently predicted that the APC would implode and that former PDP members, including Ganduje, would return to the party.

But Ganduje hit back, insisting he has no reason to leave Nigeria’s ruling party for what he called a “failing opposition.”

“Rather than me returning to the PDP, it is Sule Lamido who will soon join the APC,” he stated.

He further claimed that the PDP is nearing extinction due to internal conflicts, predicting the party will be politically irrelevant by the end of 2025.

APC Gaining Momentum Nationwide, Says Ganduje

According to the APC Chairman, the ruling party is experiencing renewed growth under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with increasing defections from opposition ranks across the country.

“The APC is gaining ground nationwide. Prominent figures continue to join us. We are preparing for a landslide in 2027,” the statement read.

Ganduje also took the opportunity to reaffirm his pride in leading what he described as the largest political party in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa, adding that his focus remains on promoting good governance and internal party democracy.

PDP Advised to Resolve Internal Crisis

He advised Sule Lamido to redirect his attention to resolving the PDP’s internal divisions instead of fueling unfounded political speculation.

“The PDP has more urgent problems to deal with. It’s collapsing from within. That’s where Lamido’s energy should go,” Ganduje remarked.

The statement concluded by assuring Nigerians that the APC under Ganduje’s leadership remains united, focused, and committed to delivering on its promises to the people.
