Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has firmly debunked speculation about his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the party during a high-level stakeholders meeting held Thursday night in Osogbo.

The closed-door meeting, convened at the Government House Banquet Hall, brought together influential PDP figures across Osun State, including federal lawmakers, former political officeholders, party elders, and grassroots leaders. The strategic gathering aimed to strengthen party unity amid rising political speculation.

Governor Adeleke, addressing the audience directly, described the reports of his planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as “baseless fake news fueled by political opponents threatened by our administration’s achievements.”

“I want to assure everyone here—our party elders, leaders, and supporters—that I am not leaving the PDP. This is my political home now and in the future,” Adeleke declared to resounding applause.

The meeting featured remote remarks from former governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and strong endorsements from key party stalwarts. Professor Wale Oladipo, Chair of the Imole Movement, described the PDP as “a party for genuine lovers of Osun,” while Senator Oluwole Alabi, a PDP Board of Trustees member, and Hon. Lasun Yusuf, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, reiterated the PDP’s deep roots in development and public service.

Hon. Akanni Olohunwa, a PDP representative in the National Assembly, commended Adeleke’s administration for its transformative impact on Osun State, expressing confidence in the party’s continued electoral dominance.

The meeting, coordinated by PDP State Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi, also had in attendance the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Adewale Egbedun, alongside several lawmakers. The gathering concluded with a joint communiqué reaffirming the PDP’s unity and Governor Adeleke’s firm standing within its ranks.
