APC Dismisses Claims of 2027 Defeat, Vows to Overcome Insecurity Challenges

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly asserted that President Bola Tinubu will not allow himself to be defeated in the 2027 elections, despite rising insecurity across Nigeria. This statement comes amid concerns that insecurity, which played a key role in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2015 defeat, could similarly harm the current administration.

APC’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bala Ibrahim, dismissed speculation that the increasing violence was politically motivated, aimed at weakening President Tinubu. He emphasized that the APC is not blind to the security challenges facing the nation and is committed to addressing them effectively.

Key Developments:

  • Security Concerns Across the Country: Insecurity has spiked, with incidents of killings and kidnappings intensifying in states like Plateau and Benue. Former Sports Minister Solomon Dalung called the attacks in Plateau acts of terrorism rather than mere farmer-herder conflicts.

  • Efforts to Counter Insecurity: The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Oluyemi Oluyede, visited affected communities in Plateau’s Bokkos Local Government Area, assuring citizens of swift action against perpetrators. Meanwhile, security expert Mike Ejiofor highlighted the challenges, citing intelligence failures and insufficient resources.

  • APC’s Strategy: Ibrahim reassured Nigerians that President Tinubu, with the help of National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, is actively working to combat insecurity. Recent efforts, such as directing the Minister of Defence to the North-West, have led to military victories.

  • Afenifere’s Call for Immediate Action: Afenifere, a prominent Yoruba socio-political group, urged the federal government to collaborate with state governors and urgently address the nation’s security challenges, calling for a redesign of the security architecture.

  • Northern Senators Speak Out: Senators from Nigeria’s northern states condemned the violence, particularly in Plateau and Benue, vowing to prevent insecurity from becoming the new norm.

Despite these challenges, the APC remains optimistic about overcoming the obstacles, with their strategies aimed at ensuring peace and stability in the coming years.APC assures Nigerians that President Tinubu won’t be defeated by insecurity, as security strategies are intensified nationwide
